1.    Journal- 

Let’s argue.  Summarize your editorial and provide the class with the most convincing statement you can to prove you are right.

1. Journal-  What is a research based argument essay?  What will we have to do?  Tell me everything you know about it.

2.  RBAE notes.

6 paragraphs-  Intro (primer), body, body, body, rebuttal, concl.

Thesis:  Last sent of the intro-   Dogs are bad pets because 1, 2, and 3.

Sources:  library-  academic journals, databases, books.  Not allowed to use .com/.org/.info.
                use .gov/ or .edu.. with caution.

2.5.  General argument notes... Logos, Ethos, Pathos

Logos-  Using logic or reasoning to convince-  Facts.  The best way to persuade.
Pathos-  Emotion-  Pathos= pathetic.
Ethos-   Ethics-- Are you fair and credible.  Logic.  Being nice. 

2.6.  Logical Fallacies.  Presentations assigned and discussed.

Create a prezi that defines your fallacy, provides an example of your fallacy at work, and has one multiple choice question for us to answer so we can see if we understand the fallacy.

Moving to argument, what's something that just bothers you about society, the world, your community, the school or whatever?

2.  Groups and C/C essays.

Group questions-  Editing questions.

1.  Do they have a thesis with whereas?

2.  Are the body paragraphs in the thesis order?

3.  Do they have 5 or 8 total paragraphs?

4.  Is their introduction and conclusion at least 5 sentences?

5.  Is the thesis the last sentence of the introduction?

6.  Are they using the TS, F, O, O format?

7.  Circle any mistakes or typos.

8.  What should the writer change or add?

9.  Offer the writer a compliment.


3.  Edit C/C essay for submission on Friday.
